My big secret is actually my middle name. I was born without one. It is a rare condition known as parental indifference. But everything changed when I got married. My wife decided to ditch hers and and replace it with her maiden name. Not wanting to let a good middle name go to waste, I decided to take hers — Elizabeth.
Those who know my given birth name find the aural proximity to Robert and Elizabeth Browning highly amusing.
Damn, that new one post a day policy is off to a winning start.

hey, Liz, next week at this time, I’ll be making fun of you IN PERSON!!!!!!
LOL
…oh ma god… your post Herb — I could hardly ‘barrett’…
in my husbands family all the boys have William as their middle name, Elizabeth is going to be hard to pull off if you go that route.
sweet of you to take her name
I like your idea of claiming Elizabeth for your own. My son and daughter in law didn’t give my granddaughter a middle name either. Maybe she will do the same as you. I can’t help but wonder if twenty years from now we’ll be asking Ralph Emmerson, “Where’s Waldo?”
With the middle name Elizabeth, I think you should go by “Libby.” Then our official campaign sushi can be the “Libby-roll.” Ha!! GET IT — LIBBY-ROLL!
That is such a touching secret. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I love the comments as much as the post, Libby.
Only you would do it.
As always it’s been a pleasure.
